Photo Releases

Two (2) Philippine Serpent Eagles (Spilornis holospilus) were released at Mount Isarog Natural Park (MINP) in celebration of the 2021 World Wildlife Day at Brgy. Panicuason, Naga City on March 5, 2021. The release was led by the Conservation and Development Division through its Protected Area Management and Biodiversity Conservation Section (PAMBCS) in collaboration with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Camarines Sur headed by PENR Officer Grace L. Cariño, Protected Area Superintendent (PASu) Vicencio Cabanayan Jr., Enforcement Division (ED) OIC, Chief Armando A. Omolida and other Regional Office personnel. The two (2) Philippine Serpent Eagles were turnedover and rehabilitated for several months at the Albay Parks and Wildlife (APW) and were consequently assessed fit for release. The Philippine Serpent Eagle is categorized as least concern species under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). As such, DENR Bicol OIC, Regional Executive Director Atty. Antonio A. Abawag encourages the public to report and turnover any wildlife species without proper documents through the DENR Bicol Hotline Numbers provided at the DENR Bicol official Facebook Page.  

In celebration of the 2021 World Wildlife Day (WWD), Brahminy Kites (Haliastur indus) were released by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs) of Albay and Sorsogon, Energy Development Corporation (EDC)-Bacman Geothermal Project, Albay Parks and Wildlife (APW) and the Provincial Government of Albay (PGA) on March 3, 2021 at the EDC-Bacman in Sitio Palayan Bayan, Barangay Nagotnot, Manito, Albay.  The Brahminy Kites were those turned over and rescued by the DENR and were taken cared of at the Albay Parks and Wildlife, Legazpi City.

Sy-Reyes (in pink shirt) and the 49 barangay captains pose during the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) V, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Sorsogon, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) V and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) V on February 26, 2021. The campaign aims to raise the awareness of the community leaders on the 10 Priority Programs of the DENR including the Salient Features of the Water Code of the Philippines, Water Utilization Permitting, Requirements for Water Permit Application, Philippine Biodiversity, Ecological Solid Waste Management, Clean Air and Clean Water Act, Geohazard Awareness and Responsible Mining.

Members of the Philippine Army extended their assistance and support during the launching of the Riverbank Stabilization through Bamboo planting on February 9, 2021 at Barangay Balinad, Polangui, Albay pursuant to Executive Order No. 120 or the “Strengthening Rehabilitation and Recovery Efforts in Typhoon-Hit Areas Through the Creation of Build Back Better Task Force”. The activity, which was also conducted simultaneously in the provinces of Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte and Catanduanes were actively participated by the members of the Philippine Army who also provided security on the conduct of the said activity.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through the Conservation and Development Division (CDD) recently assessed the Omagom Spring at Barangay Gulang-Gulang in Irosin, Sorsogon. The Omagom Spring which boast of cold, clear water and flora and fauna species was identified as a potential ecotourism site by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Irosin, Sorsogon. According to the barangay officials, the spring is also the water source of the community since the Spanish Era.
