DENR BICOL LAUNCHES PAMILIHANG JUANA TO CELEBRATE WOMEN'S MONTH 2024

In a bid to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contribution of women, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol launched the “Pamilihang Juana” to celebrate Women’s Month on March 18, 2024 at the DENR Regional Office 5, Rawis, Legazpi City.

The launching of “Pamilihang Juana” was led by Assistant Regional Director for Special Concerns (ARD-SC) Adona P. San Diego, ARD for Management Services (ARD-MS) Ronnel B. Astor, DENR Bicol employees and various micro entrepreneurs.

In her message, ARD San Diego stressed the significance of the activity. “With this kind of initiative, we expect that the celebration of Women’s Month would encourage women to strengthen their ability to contribute to nation-building,” she said.

A total of nineteen (19) concessionaires showcased their products crafted by women which highlighted their skills and talents. This initiative not only celebrates the creativity and entrepreneurship skills of women but also fosters empowerment and economic opportunities within the community.

Meanwhile, ARD Astor emphasized the vital role that women play across various sectors, including environmental conservation and management. He also highlighted the importance of gender equality and inclusivity within the DENR Bicol, advocating for policies and practices that ensure women's voices are heard and their talents recognized.

With the theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan Patutunayan,” the Women’s Month celebration signifies the collective commitment to create a fair and inclusive society where the capabilities and contributions of women are recognized and valued. ###
