A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) V and all the recipient People’s Organizations (POs) under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Beneficiary Development (CARPBD) were signed by  OIC, Regional Executive Director, Atty. Antonio A. Abawag represented by the Assistant Regional Director for Management Services Engr. Eva S. Ocfemia and all the PO Presidents during the conduct of the Community Based Forest Management (CBFM) Year-Starter Meeting cum Work and Financial Plan (WFP) and MOA Signing of CBFM-CARP Projects for CY 2021 on March 10, 2021 at DENR V, Rawis, Legazpi City.

The MOA aims to extend financial support to all recipient POs in the implementation of CBFM-CARP Agroforestry and Livelihood Projects for the period of one (1) year. All funds provided will be used exclusively by the POs for the conduct of their activities consistent with the approved WFP.

In her message, ARD Ocfemia said that the Department will provide the necessary technical assistance and capacity building to all the POs to facilitate the effective implementation of the project. “You, our CBFM CARP stakeholders are modern heroes in your own way of protecting the environment and lifting your social status through the livelihoods that you create from all the projects you will handle from the Department. Make sure to use this chance to promote the well-being of your family and your whole community”, she added.

For the part of the recipient POs, they will ensure that the benefits derived from the project will be distributed and shared by the members of the organization and come up with sustainable measures for the project.

Both the DENR and the POs recognize the importance of collaboration and partnership in achieving the objectives of CBFM-CARP through the MOA.
