PENRO SOPSOP TAKES POST AS ARD FOR TS OF DENR BICOL

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol welcomes its new Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services (ARD-TS), Atty. Ronnel C. Sopsop vice ARD TS Allan Leuterio.

In consonance with Special Order No. 2019-559 dated August 8, 2019 signed by Secretary Roy A. Cimatu, Sorsogon Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENR) Officer Atty. Ronnel C. Sopsop assumed as new ARD for Technical Services.

Atty. Sopsop, a forester-lawyer by profession, started serving the DENR in 1996 as a contractual Forester. He took up Bachelor of Laws at Aquinas University now University of Santo Tomas Legazpi and passed the BAR in 2007. After passing the BAR, he was reassigned at the DENR V Legal Division and served as OIC Chief of the Litigation Adjudication Section.

After his short stint at the DENR Legal Divison, Atty. Sopsop served as a Public Attorney at PAO Sorsogon, Catanduanes and Legazpi City Offices from 2008 to 2015. With his ardent desire to continue his advocacy on environmental protection, he returned to DENR and shortly after he was promoted as Attorney V at the Legal Division. Then, followed his designation as Officer-in-Charge of PENRO Sorsogon on March 17, 2017.

In his message during the turnover rites, ARD TS Sopsop said that he needs the support and cooperation of everyone, especially his colleagues from the TS. “There is no monopoly of knowledge, we need to share ideas and together come up with sound decisions to make better our services to our clients,” he said. ARD Sopsop also thanked Regional Executive Director Atty. Gil A. Aromin for the confidence and trust accorded to him. The new ARD for TS commits to strengthen environmental protection and uphold integrity in the DENR.

Meanwhile, in view of the Special Order, Director Leuterio will be assigned at the Office of the Undersecretary for Field Operations at the DENR Central Office. Director Leuterio expressed his gratitude to the entire DENR V for welcoming him in Bicol and for the cooperation and support given to him during his short stint.

PENRO FRANCIA NOW LEADS CAMARINES NORTE
 
By virtue of DENR Special Order No. 2019-558 dated 8 August 2019, Forester Marlon C. Francia is installed as the new OIC, PENR Officer of DENR PENRO Camarines Norte replacing Forester Joaquin Ed A. Guerrero who has already signified his intent to retire from government service. 
 
DENR V OIC, Regional Executive Director Atty. Gil A. Aromin, CESO IV, who led the turnover ceremony, said that change is inevitable. He encouraged PENRO Camarines Norte personnel to support their new PENRO and challenged everyone to work together towards the goal of delivering exemplary service. PENRO Marlon C. Francia, who was previously assigned as the OIC, PENR Officer at DENR PENRO Catanduanes prior to his present assignment in Camarines Norte, expects everyone to work as a team through effective communication.
 
Meanwhile, Forester Joaquin Ed A. Guerrero has served the Department for 41 years and has been assigned at various offices within the Bicol Region.

By virtue of Special Order 2019-07 dated January 7, 2019, Atty. Aromin will lead DENR Bicol replacing Regional Executive Director Atty. Antonio A. Abawag, CESO IV who will also serve as RED of DENR Region 2.
