Approximately 102 kilograms of solid wastes were collected during the cleanup activity spearheaded by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) V in celebration of the Month of the Planet Earth and World Earth Day on April 22, 2023 along the coastlines of Barangays Rawis and Arimbay, Legazpi City.

With the theme, "Invest in our Planet. Act Boldly. Innovate Broadly. Implement Equitably", the cleanup was participated in by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) V, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) V, and EMB V personnel, and barangay officials and residents.

The cleanup aims to raise awareness on marine debris issues, importance of protecting our planet and our natural resources. It also aims to encourage people to engage in conserving the environment.
The wastes collected consisted primarily of rugged clothes, styrofoam, food wrappers, and packages, among others.

DENR Bicol headed by Regional Executive Director (RED) Francisco E. Milla, Jr. urges the public to actively participate in the government’s efforts to address environment conservation and preservation and start investing in our planet.
By virtue of Proclamation No. 1482 series of 2008, April has been declared as the Month of Planet Earth. The month-long celebration reiterates the need to scale up efforts in protecting and saving our planet from environmental degradation to ensure a sustainable future for all people.###
