The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) V, through the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office Iriga headed by OIC, CENR Officer Herleo O. Pavericio and the Buhi Municipal Police arrested four (4) illegal miners at Barangay San Vicente, Buhi, Camarines Sur on February 27, 2023.

 

The illegal miners were caught in the act while extracting rocks in the area.

 

Authorities have reported that a three-meter wide hole with about 8-10 meters deep was dug in about three-months of operation without permit from the DENR.

 

The perpetrators were charged with violations of Section 102 of the Republic Act 7942 or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 and are presently detained at the Buhi Municipal Police Station in Buhi, Camarines Sur.
