The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Sorsogon headed by PENR Officer Tito R. Migo recently conducted a coastal clean-up activity in celebration of Month of the Planet Earth 2022 with the theme, “Invest in Our Planet”.

The event was participated in by the barangay captains of Gubat, Sorsogon, representatives from the Women’s Group of barangays Buenavista and Ariman, some student volunteers from Bicol University Gubat Campus, and PENRO Sorsogon personnel.

Barangay Captain Rolando E. Embile of Buenavista, Gubat, Sorsogon welcomed the participants and said that the celebration aims to raise awareness and engage the community members towards environmental protection.

PENRO Migo extended his gratitude to the participants for their unwavering support to the priority programs of DENR Bicol, especially on coastal resources management.

“This coastal clean-up activity is reflective of the collective effort of everyone who are willing to do something for the betterment of the future generations. As we create a ripple of change today through cleaning our coastal areas, this will serve as a leap towards environmental preservation,” PENRO Migo added.

Likewise, the Technical Services Division (TSD) Chief Ma. Fe P. Reganit emphasized the importance of being involved in various activities on environmental protection. She said that it is our duty to protect our nature as good stewards of the environment.

A total of 113 kilograms of solid wastes were collected after the clean-up activity. (With report from PENRO Sorsogon)
