  The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Catanduanes headed by PENRO Imelda D. Baltazar together with some DENR personnel conducted the kick-off activity of the National Women’s Month Celebration with the theme, “Juana Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya!” at Barangay Sabloyon, Caramoran, Catanduanes.

The event was participated in by Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) of Caramoran led by Mayor Glenda Aguilar, Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Sabloyon, and PENRO Catanduanes personnel.

Updates on Covid-19 in the municipality of Caramoran together with video presentations on Covid-19 vaccines were presented by the Caramoran Rural Health Unit led by Mr. Ryan Samas. The Department's programs and projects, specifically the conduct of Survey and Registration of Protected Area Occupants (SRPAO) inside the Catanduanes Natural Park (CatNP) Protected Area was also presented. Some fifty (50) pieces of Narra seedlings, facemasks and food packs were also distributed. IEC materials including the checklist of requirements for the frontline services and proper disposal of facemask from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) were also given to the participants.   

 “We encourage the support of all women in our community towards our drive in protecting and conserving our environment to relieve the plight of the future generations”. “The role of the women are vital in addressing some environmental problems because truly, women are patient and courageous in all that she does”, PENRO Baltazar said.

The 2021 National Women’s Month Celebration serves as a tribute, a platform, and a call for action that highlights the extraordinary roles of ordinary “Juanas” in the society as trailblazers and harbingers of change. This celebration is also a venue to discuss and address the issues that women continue to face so empowerment can be fully achieved. The campaign is also a call for concrete, sustainable, and inclusive actions towards gender equality.
