A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) V represented by OIC, Regional Executive Director, Atty. Antonio A. Abawag through Atty. III Ma. Lovella Diaz-Castro and Malilipot Municipal Mayor Roli B. Volante was recently signed at the DENR V, Rawis, Legazpi City.

The MOA entered into by the DENR and Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malilipot aims to speed up the conduct of the verification, relocation and structural survey of Lot No. 1059 at Barangay Binitayan, Malilipot, Albay. The subject lot covers an area of 72, 4160 hectares more or less and has multiple claimants. As such, Mayor Volante requested for the assistance of the DENR to help settle the pressing issues on said lot.

“We are very much willing to take steps toward settling land issues and claims in our municipality. This is one way of proving to our constituents that our Office never sleeps to hear all their cry. We will make sure that the lot will be used for the betterment of our municipality and our residents will benefit from it”, Mayor Volante said.
LGU Malilipot initiated to obligate and transfer funding support to cover the cost of the conduct of the verification, relocation and structural survey and other necessary support.

On the other hand, DENR, as the agency tasked to oversee, direct and implement the conduct of activities involving land survey, mapping and classification, will provide the technical assistance with complete Survey Returns through the Surveys and Mapping Division (SMD) headed by Engr. Josie A. Columna. Likewise, the SMD will coordinate with LGU Malilipot for the corresponding reports after the conduct of the survey. Also, the land investigators and inspectors of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Albay Land will conduct the investigation in support to the execution of the survey.

The DENR Bicol is hopeful that with its strengthened partnership with the LGUs, issues on Survey and Mapping of lots will be easily threshed out.
