A Public Relations, Information and Social Marketing (PRISM) on the DENR’s 10 Priority Programs, Presidential Decree 1067 and Water Resource Use Permitting was spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol headed by OIC, Regional Executive Director Atty. Antonio A. Abawag through the Licenses, Patents and Deeds Division (LPDD), the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Sorsogon led by PENR Officer Tito R. Migo, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) V and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) V to the barangay captains of the municipality of Pilar on February 26, 2021 at the Bonifacio Hall, Pilar, Sorsogon.

Forty nine (49) barangay captains participated in the IEC Campaign, which discussed the 10 Priority Programs of the DENR, Salient Features of the Water Code of the Philippines, Water Utilization Permitting, Requirements for Water Permit Application, Philippine Biodiversity, Ecological Solid Waste Management, Clean Air and Clean Water Act, Geohazard Awareness and Responsible Mining.

The activity served as an avenue for the local leaders to widen their awareness on the programs of the DENR especially on water utilization.

Pilar Mayor Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes warmly welcomed everyone and extended her gratitude to the DENR for reaching out to the LGUs through these IEC campaigns, which greatly help in strengthening the community’s awareness and action on environmental conservation and protection.

Meanwhile, eco bags and posters about environmental awareness were also distributed to the participants and officials of LGU Pilar as part of the campaign.

The activity was conducted with strict observance to the minimum health standards, such as proper wearing of face masks, social distancing and hand/equipment sanitation.
