The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Sorsogon headed by OIC, PENR Officer Tito R. Migo together with the Naval Intelligence and Security Group of the Naval Forces Southern Luzon (NAVFORSOL) and the Municipal Police Station of Donsol confiscated twenty-five (25) pieces of undocumented kalomagon lumber with a total volume of 617 board feet and two (2) units of semi-furnished wooden boats not covered by any legal document on January 26, 2021 at Barangay Pang-Pang, Donsol, Sorsogon.

The forest products with an estimated value of Php 478,000.00 were seized from two perpetrators. Following the inventory, the same were hauled and transferred to PENRO Sorsogon Pilar Satellite Office while the bigger boat is on custody by the Barangay Captain of Pang-Pang for temporary safekeeping.

Accordingly, criminal charges will be filed against the offenders in violation of the Presidential Decree 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.

The DENR has intensified its operations to curb illegal logging and other environmental crimes. Moreover, the office calls on the public to report any violations of any environmental law.
