            The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol under the leadership of OIC, Regional Executive Director Atty. Antonio A. Abawag through its Enforcement Division spearheaded the meeting of the Regional Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force (RAILTF) on December 11, 2020 at the DENR V Hamada Hall, Rawis, Legazpi City.

            The meeting highlighted the accomplishments on the enforcement of environmental laws and the significant milestones of the task force including the proposed creation of the Enforcement of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Laws Committee to strengthen the enforcement of ENR Laws in the region with the assistance and support of all law enforcement partners.

            “The DENR Bicol is grateful for the dedication and the harmonious partnership with the law enforcement partners in strengthening the implementation of varying laws, rules and regulations for the protection and conservation of the environment and proper use of the region’s natural resources,” said RED Abawag. The DENR commits to continually equip the volunteers and partners to widen their knowledge and intensify their passion in preventing the exploitation of the environment and natural resources.

Further, the meeting accentuated that the DENR and the task force is committed in curbing illegal logging in the region and the penalties imposed to the violators will be seriously taken into action. The DENR assures that a stronger partnership will be carried on with the task force for the protection of the environment.

            The meeting was participated in by the key officials of DENR V, representatives from the law enforcement partners, the Department of Justice (DOJ), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Navy, Tactical Operations Group (TOG) 5 and the 9th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.
