The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol, headed by Regional Executive Director Atty. Antonio A. Abawag, through the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Catanduanes led by PENR Officer Imelda S. Baltazar spearheaded the distribution of Family Food Packs (FFP) to differently abled persons in celebration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

With the theme, “Building Back Better: Toward a Disability-Inclusive, Accessible and Sustainable Post COVID-19 World”, the activity aims to promote understanding of disability issues and to mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of PWDs.

The celebration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities seeks to increase awareness of the advantages from the integration of PWDs in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life,” PENRO Imelda Baltazar said.

Further, she said that PENRO Catanduanes aims to instill the Department’s value of appreciation to differently abled persons through the giving of food packs and the intensification of advocacy campaign aimed at raising public awareness towards a disability-inclusive world.

The Chief of Management Services Division Ma. Juliet S. Araojo (in striped shirt) facilitated the distribution of the food packs to eleven (11) recipients.

The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 47/3.
