Fifteen pieces of White Lauan lumber with an estimated volume of 159 board feet were turned over to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Sorsogon for proper disposition by the Sorsogon Police Provincial Office (PPO) and the Sorsogon Police Intelligence Unit (PIU) on December 2, 2020.

The lumber were confiscated from a resident of Barangay Bacolod, Irosin, Sorsogon on November 19, 2020 after the investigation made by the joint team, which found out that there were no proper documents secured for the possession of the forest products thereby violating the Presidential Decree 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will file the necessary cases against the perpetrator. Moreover, the DENR has intensified its operations to curb illegal cutting of trees and other environmental crimes. The Office appeals for the support of the public to report any violations against the law.
