The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Sorsogon led by PENR Officer Tito R. Migo supervised the cutting of one (1) Narra tree on December 2, 2020 at Brgy. Bibincahan, Sorsogon city.

The issuance of permit to cut the naturally-grown Narra tree with TCP No. R5SOR-2020-061 and registered to Agusto Suarez was issued to Rejay Datur upon the approval of Officer-In-Charge, Regional Executive Director Atty. Antonio A. Abawag last July 17, 2020 pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 705 and DAO 2016-07.

Upon monitoring of the subject tree with a gross volume of 0.48 cubic meters located in the private property of Mr. Suarez, PENRO Technical personnel found out that the tree has several defects that poses danger to life and property. With no objection from the concerned local government unit (LGU), the same was cut.

Moreover, in accordance with the DENR Memorandum Order No. 2012-02 known as the “Uniform Replacement Ratio for Cut or Relocated Trees” and in support to the National Greening Program (NGP), the requestee is obliged to plant 100 seedlings of indigenous species as a replacement of the tree cut.

Likewise, DENR Bicol continues to remind the public to refrain from cutting trees and illegal possession of chainsaw without authorization from the DENR.
