Some sixty-nine (69) pieces of lumber were apprehended by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Albay led by PENR Officer Imelda D. Baltazar on October 3, 2020 at Barangay Soa-Igot, Tabaco City.

A joint operation was conducted by the PENRO Albay Team led by Forester Jay Oarde together with Forest Rangers Adrian M. Borsigue, Ronillo IƱigo, and Erwin Palaming in coordination with the Naval Forces Southern Luzon (NAVFORSOL) as a result of some reported timber poaching activity in the said barangay.

The operation led to the apprehension of Sanny Dacuya y Camata and Benjie Dacuya y Camata, both residents of Barangay Oras, Tabaco City, who were caught in the act of loading in a Foton Tornado Truck the undocumented Narra lumber and flitches of assorted sizes totaling to 1,739.98 board feet or 4.10 cubic meters.

After proper scaling, the apprehended lumber and flitches were placed under the custody of PENRO Albay for safekeeping and disposition. Amidst the pandemic, the DENR Bicol continues to conduct operations to secure the conservation, protection and management of the environment and natural resources.

Further, the DENR reminds the public to always secure legal documents before conducting any environmental activities to avoid penalties and apprehension of forest products. (With report from PENRO Albay)
