Lumber Catanduanes Oct 2020
 
The PENRO Catanduanes Team conducted an operation activity in response to a report about some illegal sawn and transported lumber at Barangay Biong, Gigmoto, Catanduanes. Consequently, the Team found a stockpile of lumber composed of 41 pieces of Kalantas (Toona calantas) and five (5) pieces of Taloto (Pterocymbium tinctorium) with a volume of 222.0 board feet. Having no claimant present, the lumber were declared abandoned.
 
Meanwhile, another operation activity was conducted in response to another information about some illegally cut lumber at Sitio Minabobo, Barangay Milaviga, Caramoran, Catanduanes. A stockpile of lumber composed of two (2) pieces of Kalantas, 61 pieces of White Lauan and 20 pieces of Red Lauan with a volume of 446.47 board feet were found abandoned.
 
After proper scaling, the apprehended lumber were placed under the custody of PENRO Catanduanes for safekeeping and disposition.
 
Amidst the pandemic, the DENR Bicol headed by OIC, Regional Executive Director Atty. Antonio A. Abawag continues to conduct monitoring operations to secure the conservation, protection and management of the environment and natural resources. Further, the DENR reminds the public to always secure legal documents before conducting any environmental activities to avoid penalties and apprehension of forest products.
