PNHS CEPA Feb 2020

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) V, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Camarines Sur and Albay, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Sipocot, Iriga and Guinobatan with the Environmental Management Bureau V (EMB) through its Provincial Environmental Management Units (PEMU), and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) V spearheaded a Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) activities at the Pamplona National High School in Pamplona, Camarines Sur, University of Saint Anthony in Iriga City, Camarines Sur, Matalipni Elementary School in Malinao, Albay and to the Local Government Unit (LGU) Guinobatan at the Municipal Hall, Guinobatan, Albay on February 19, 20, 21 and 24, 2020, respectively.

The CEPA is an advocacy campaign which seeks to educate the public and private stakeholders regionwide on the mandates, thrust, and priority programs of the DENR and its line bureaus. It is conducted through orientations, fora, and film showings, among others.

The CEPA also aims to move the stakeholders to become vanguards of the environment and to stir them into action towards possible solutions on the pressing concerns and issues faced by the planet.

Topics discussed include the DENR’s Mission, Vision, Plans and Programs, Philippine Biodiversity, Ecological Solid Waste Management, Clean Air and Water Act, and Geohazard Awareness and Responsible Mining.

More CEPA activities are set to be conducted to various Local Government Units (LGUs) and schools year-round.

With the conduct of CEPA, the DENR and its line bureaus are hopeful that there will be an increased support from the communities, which will help amplify public opinion, behavior and action towards environmental conservation and protection.*JNL
