The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol headed by OIC, Regional Executive Director Atty. Gil A. Aromin together with the Officials and staff of the DENR V Regional and Field Offices kicks off its Year Starter Meeting and Workshop Planning for the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Management Program (CMEMP) on February 24 to 25, 2020 at the DENR V Hamada Hall, Rawis Legazpi City.

The two-day meeting and workshop were held to present the accomplishments, updates, and other activities held by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs) and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENROs) on the CMEMP.

During the activity, OIC, RED Aromin encouraged the group to come up with strategies in the implementation of the program. “Focusing on your work and putting your heart in it leads to a more successful program, especially when the work is done with love,” he added.

The CY 2020 Work and Financial Plan (WFP) for the Coastal and Marine Ecosystem Rehabilitation Sub-Program; Management of Coastal and Marine Resources were also presented together with the Unit of Work Measure (UWM) for the CMEMP targets. Along with this is the presentation of the Leveling Off of Regional and Field Office Detailed Work Plan for CY 2020 and other CMEMP updates.

Furthermore, the group was updated on the National Training on Business Development Service (BDS) for the Biodiversity-Friendly Enterprise (BDFE) in which the five (5) modules were presented, showing how strong strategies and partnership with the Local Government Units (LGUs) leads to a more successful, sustainable and biodiversity-friendly business development.

Finally, a workshop was held for a three-year proposal (year 2021 to 2023) of the Field Offices to determine the strategies and activities that will be funded and conducted by the Department in support to the CMEMP and its linked programs.*DJJ
