Refo Strategies January 2020

Newly installed Officer-in-Charge, Sorsogon Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Herleo O. Pavericio coordinated with Governor Francis Joseph “Chiz” Escudero to discuss strategies on reforestation projects during a courtesy call on January 20, 2020 at the Governor’s Office, Sorsogon City.

OIC-PENRO Pavericio together with Technical Services Division Chief Ma. Fe P. Reganit, Planning Officer III Judy G. Doma, and Atty. Eduardo Gumba discussed the status of the DENR Reforestation Projects in the Province of Sorsogon citing the number of seedlings to be planted, site identification for plantation establishment, and the site suitability assessment.

Furthermore, Governor Escudero conferred with PENRO Pavericio about the approved Provincial Ordinance regarding the Cutting of Hazardous Trees. PENRO Pavericio assured Governor Escudero that the DENR, particularly the PENRO, will support and extend technical assistance in the formulation and crafting of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). “We will dispatch forest officers for the inspection and validation of identified trees to be cut,” he added.

Further still, he gave an update about the construction status of the new Sorsogon PENR Office Building, which will be occupied by PENRO personnel tentatively on February 2020.

The said courtesy call is a protocol to newly appointed Head of Office upon assumption to his assignment.
