Cam Norte NarraPENRO CAM NORTE PLANTS 70 NARRA SEEDLINGS IN CELEBRATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FORESTS. The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Camarines Norte headed by OIC, PENR Officer Marlon C. Francia spearheaded a tree growing activity in celebration of the International Day of Forests on March 25, 2022. Some seventy (70) Narra seedlings were planted at the Bicol Natural Park, Lupi, Camarines Sur. “PENRO Camarines Norte aims to highlight the importance of forests to the people and its role to our biodiversity,” PENRO Francia said. The DENR Bicol celebrates the IDF to raise awareness on the importance of forest preservation and encourage citizens to undertake local efforts, organize and support tree planting and growing activities and other campaigns toward protection and revival of ecosystems in the Region. DENR BICOL JOINS BICOL YOUTH LEADERSHIP CAMP. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol headed by Regional Executive Director (RED) Francisco E. Milla, Jr., CESO III through its Regional Youth Desk Officers participated in the Serbisyo Caravan of the Bicol Youth Leadership Camp: Improving Youth Participation in Local Governance with the theme, “Mga Jovenes na Bikolano para sa Marhay na Pag-Gobierno”, spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bicol on March 5, 2022 at the Coastal View Beach Resort, Sto. Domingo, Albay. The Bicol Youth Leadership Camp aims to provide an avenue for the youth to actively participate in local governance and capacitate them as responsible youth leaders. Some 66 youth leaders of various barangays, schools, religious, and youth organizations from selected areas in the province of Albay and representatives of National Government Agencies (NGAs) participated in the event. They received Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials such as shirts, water bottles, and ecobags from the DENR Tayo Ang Kalikasan (TAK), a collaborative project of the DENR.

DENR BICOL TO PURSUE ISO CERTIFICATION AMID PANDEMIC. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol is on the process of obtaining its ISO 9001:2015 certification despite the ongoing threats of the COVID19 pandemic. The Office through its Management Services led by OIC, Assistant Regional Director for Management Services Grace L. Cariño, PhD conducted an awareness training on the Quality Management System (QMS) and the practical application of the said ISO on February 14 to 15 and 17, 2022 at the DENR V Hamada Hall, Rawis, Legazpi City. The awareness training was participated in by the key officials and employees of the Regional Office, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs) and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENROs) and facilitated by Engr. Grace P. Daria-Rabacal of the SHENDAR International Certifications. Engr. Rabacal discussed the overview of the ISO certification, evaluated sample documents of the Process Manuals and Risks/Opportunities Analysis and Action Planning (ROAAP) form, and how to plan and conduct effective and efficient internal audit. The DENR aims to have all its Regional and Field Offices ISO certified nationwide.

Cam Norte Interfaith RallyPENRO CAM NORTE JOINS INTERFAITH RALLY AND PEACE COVENANT FOR SAFE NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTIONS. The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Camarines Norte headed by OIC, PENR Officer Marlon C. Francia joined the Unity Walk, Interfaith Prayer Rally and Peace Covenant for the launching of a Safe National and Local Election (NLE) 2022 on February 18, 2022 at Central Plaza Grounds, Daet, Camarines, Norte. With the objective of ensuring a peaceful and orderly election on May 2022, the event was spearheaded by Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office – Pulis Bantayog and was participated in by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Philippine Army (PA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and other stakeholders. “PENRO Camarines Norte joined the interfaith assembly because it aims to ensure that the upcoming election processes are properly implemented and executed in accordance with the law and election guidelines,” PENRO Francia said. TBPPSENDANGERED GREEN SEA TURTLE RELEASED IN TBPPS. The Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Guinobatan headed by OIC, CENR Officer Narisol C. Divina successfully released a Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas) on February 14, 2022 back to the Ticao-Burias Pass Protected Seascape (TBPPS) at Barangay Badian, Oas, Albay. Technical personnel of CENRO Guinobatan immediately responded to a report that a sea turtle was accidentally trapped in a fishing net. Upon assessment, the sea turtle was found to be in good condition with carapace length and width measuring 54 and 42 centimeters, respectively. Its was estimated to weigh around 25 kilograms. A metal tag with serial number PH0369K was placed on its right flipper. Green Sea Turtles are categorized as “Endangered Species” based on DENR Administrative Order (DAO) 2019-09. CENRO Divina lauds the effort of the local community who contributed for the conservation and protection of wildlife species and their habitats to promote ecological balance and enhance biological diversity.
