Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)Undersecretary Jonas R. The MIA report is a requirement of the Minamata Convention to prepare the country establish its baseline report in preparation for the ratification of the mercury agreement by the Senate. In the same report, four sites were identified to increased level of mercury contamination, namely: Palawan, Camarines Norte, Lanao del Norte, and Compostela Valley. In terms of health aspects, the MIA reported 100 percent compliance to the Minamata Convention. The MinamataConvention regulates the use and trade of mercury in the world.
