The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Catanduanes celebrates the 2021 World Wetlands Day with the theme,“Inseparable Wetlands and Water” through a cleanup drive and beach forest planting activity along the coastal barangay of Bon-ot, San Andres, Catanduanes on February 2, 2021. The activity aims to engage the community to remove and prevent trash from reaching the sea, which may harm marine lives. A total of five (5) sacks of trash with an estimated weight of 30 kilograms were collected composed mainly of plastic straws, fish nets, styrofoams, plastic bags, plastic bottles, wrappers, sacks and other non-biodegradable materials. The collected trash were then hauled by the San Andres Waste Management Garbage Segregator for proper disposal. The event was participated in by the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) Catanduanes, Local Government Unit of San Andres, Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Bon-ot, The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), Catanduanes Chapter, Isla Amateur Communication (ISLACOM) Group, Inc., Catanduanes Chapter, local communities and PENRO Catanduanes personnel.
