Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu (extreme right) holds a copy of the book, “Bamboo, The Grass of Hope” from its authors during the 1stASEAN Bamboo Congress held in Iloilo City on August 12-16, 2019. The book is about the different uses of bamboo and the processing technologies available to maximize its use. Cimatu is considering the use of bamboo over traditional hardwood to eliminate the cutting of tress which would help increase the country’s forest cover. The congress was organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) thru the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB).With Cimatu are ERDB Director Sofio Quintana (extreme left) and the book authors (L to R): Drs. Florentino Tesoro, Aida B. Lapis and Felizardo Virtucio. ###
