The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol headed by OIC, Regional Executive Director Atty. Gil A. Aromin intensifies its precautionary actions against the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) by distributing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as disinfectant alcohols and sanitizers, washable face masks and Vitamin C tablets to its officials and staff last March 16, 2020 at the DENR Regional Office, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENRO), Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENRO), Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) V and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) V.

DENR Undersecretary (USec) for Field Operations, Enforcement and Muslim Affairs Jim O. Sampulna ordered the distribution of the said PPEs as a preventive measure due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Similarly, a Memorandum was released advising all the DENR Officials and staff to strictly follow precautionary measures against the virus such as frequent handwashing, applying alcohol or sanitizers, wearing face masks, avoiding crowded places and casual physical contacts. All DENR employees are also encouraged to know the basics of the COVID-19 - its symptoms, transmission and the proper response when suspected of carrying the virus. Along with this, the DENR Employees Union (DENREU) Chapters regionwide also initiated in aiding all its members by distributing Vitamin C tablets.

Further, thermal scanners will be installed at the office entrances to monitor the body temperature of all people entering the office establishment.

The country has already been declared under “State of Public Health Emergency” last March 9, 2020. The virus has already affected more than one hundred-fifty thousand (150,000) people and over five thousand seven hundred (5,700) deaths globally. The public is continually advised to cooperate and follow preventive measures to lessen and prevent the spread of the COVID-19.###*DJJ
