The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Daraga received four (4) special free patents from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol. The patents were awarded by OIC, Regional Executive Director Atty. Gil A. Aromin, CESO IV together with Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Atty. Ronnel C. Sopsop and PENRO Albay officials to Mayor Victor U. Perete at the Daraga Municipal Hall today, September 9, 2019.

LGU Daraga is the recipient of the titles for the Municipal Hall, Ninoy Aquino Park, Public Market, and Rural Health Unit which cover a total land area of 18,001 square meters.

The event is in conjunction with this year’s celebration of the 118th Lands Anniversary pursuant to Act No. 218 dated September 2, 1901, the Act Creating a Bureau of Public Lands or the present Land Management Bureau.

The DENR is mandated to administer, manage and dispose public lands in favor of qualified beneficiaries in accordance with existing laws. RED Aromin, in his message, emphasized the importance of land titling and further promoted the titling of residential and agricultural areas, government offices, and school sites. “A land title is like a marriage certificate. It is a proof of ownership of one’s land.”, he quipped.

Meanwhile, Mayor Perete expressed his gratitude for the efforts and collaboration of DENR V and LGU Daraga officials in the titling of the municipality’s properties.

DENR V has lined-up Handog Titulo programs and other land-related activities in every province this month in adherence to DENR Memorandum Circular No. 2019-04 dated 1 August 2019 or the Conduct of Nationwide Handog Titulo Program every September.###
