WWD San Andres Feb 2020

Municipal Mayor of San Andres, Catanduanes Hon. Peter C. Cua helped in planting bamboo propagules along the Cabcab River in San Andres, Catanduanes during the World Wetlands Day (WWD) celebration on February 4, 2020. He is assisted by OIC, PENR Officer Jerry R. Arena (extreme right) and other employees of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Catanduanes. Bamboo plants are known to protect steep slopes and prevent soil erosion. Moreover, a simultaneous clean-up was also done at Cabcab River and a Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) activity was likewise conducted at San Andres Vocational School (SAVS). The WWD celebration aimed to highlight the important role played by wetlands being the habitat of various wildlife species and more importantly as natural solutions, in adapting to, and mitigating the impact of climate change.
