Dir. Gonzales disclosed that last year more than eight thousand five hundred waterbirds were monitored in the Cabusao Critical Habitat.
“The most observed species are the Northern Shoveller, Philippine Duck, Northern Pintail, Pacific Golden Plover and other shorebirds” he added.
A report from PAWD revealed that taxonomically, the family Anatidae, which comprises the marsh ducks, is the most numerous in number, followed by egret species.
The AWC was initiated in 1987 in India subcontinent and has grown since, to the cover Asia-Pacific region.
