Search is on for Saringaya Award 2013
The search for Saringaya Award is now open for nominee applicants for this year. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Bicol Region (DENR V) gives recognition to exemplary individuals, groups, organizations and corporate entities who made remarkable contributions to environmental protection, conservation and management.
This year is the 13th season for Saringaya award which has seven (7) categories namely: (a)Industries (b )Non –Government Organizations (c) Peoples’Organizations (d) Other Government Agencies (e) Local Government Units (f) Academes (g) Other Special Categories who, as a group, corporate body or individuals have supported DENR V in the implementation programs and policies leading to protection, conservation and safety of the environment.
Regional Executive Director Gilbert Gonzales instructed all DENR line bureaus, sectoral services, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENROs) and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENROs) to accept and endorse nominations for the seven (7) categories specified, that may be scouted and pass the standard criteria set for the award in their respective Area Of Responsibility (AOR ).
Last year’s winners were: Municipality of Pilar Sorsogon (Local Government Unit Category); Bacolod Elementary School Bacolod, Juban Sorsogon (Academe Category – Elementary Level); University of Saint Anthony ( Academe Category – Tertiary Level ); Department of Education Division of Sorsogon ( Other Government Category for Institutional Support ); Protected Area Management Board - MT. Isarog Natural Park ( Special Category - Protected Area Management Board ); Aboittiz Power Renewables, Inc. Multi – Partite Monitoring Team (Special Category – MMT); Energy Development Corporation Bacon – Manito Geothermal Project (Large Industry Category). Special Recognition were given to: ASEC. Pedro C. Caleon (Ret) DENR V Regional Executive Director for 9 Years and Rosalia l. Enerio Plaque of Recognition For Centuries Old Trees.
Nomination forms may be obtained from all PENROs and CENROs Office, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Office of RTD Pobleo Florece ERDS, Saringaya Secretariat Office at DENR V Legal division. The nominations shall be accompanied by supporting documents.
Submission of nomination of entries starts on April 8, 2013. Deadline for the submission of nomination shall be on or before 12 mid night of April 30, 2013. Late entries will no longer be accepted.
Saringaya is a Bicol term fo abundance of growth, lush, and healthy environment teeming with green trees and mountains ideal for biodiversity and well balance ecosystem.
Saringaya Award, which is in the form of a plaque and certificate, is done during the culminating activity of the Environment Month celebration in June.
