CAMARINES NORTE STATE COLLEGE PRESENTS TREE BANKING APP TO DENR

The Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) the presented the La Familia Tree Banking app to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol headed by OIC-Regional Executive Director Atty. Gil A. Aromin at the DENR Regional Office, Rawis, Legazpi City on August 19, 2019.

La Familia Tree Banking App is an android based tool developed by the CNSC to monitor a tree planter’s compliance with the tree planting requirement in accordance with existing laws.

Mr. Ronald Dando, CNSC Planning Officer said the system was originally designed for their school, however, they identified its potential to help the implementation of the nationwide greening program. “The Tree Banking App, being an evidence-based monitoring system, has the potential to increase the survival rate of planted trees, promote compliance with laws, and establish a database for trees as well as the planters,” he said.

Further, Dando said that the app is an expanded geotagging tool with features and functions designed for monitoring of tree planting activities. The presentation and consultation was attended by DENR personnel from various Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) and the Technical Services Division in the Regional Office.###*JMM
