DENR BICOL CHIEF PRESIDES OVER 1ST QUARTER PAMB MEETINGS REGIONWIDE

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR) Bicol OIC Regional Executive Director Atty. Gil A. Aromin, CESO IV presided over the 2019 1st Quarter Meetings of some nine (9) Protected Area Management Boards (PAMBs) in the Bicol Region.

RED Aromin presided over the PAMB Meetings of the following protected areas (PAs) during the whole month of March, namely: Mt. Masaraga Watershed Forest Reserve in Albay, Bulusan Volcano Natural Park (BVNP) and Juban Magallanes Watershed Forest Reserve (JMWFR) in Sorsogon, Mt. Isarog Natural Park (MINP) and Buhi Wildlife Sanctuary (BWS) in Camarines Sur, Catanduanes Natural Park (CNP) in Catanduanes and Matangtubig Watershed and Forest Reserve (MWFR), Bongsanglay Natural Park (BNP) and Tugbo Watershed and Forest Reserve (TWFR) in the province of Masbate.

“We are seeing a shared endeavor and a gathering force to revere our environment through this PAMB Meeting. I would like to commend the efforts of all the stakeholders to be one with the DENR in the conservation, protection and management of our natural resources,” said RED Aromin.

The series of PAMB Meetings were conducted to strengthen the PAMB and guide them in their PA management. “We should strengthen the management of our PAs. The Protected Area Superintendents (PASUs) have been working hard in their respective areas to cope with the standards in managing the PAs. I encourage you to use all available tools to aid you in the effective management of your PAs”, he added.

RED Aromin encouraged all the PAMB members and participants to actively join the meeting because he said that the activity was primarily conducted for them to thresh out issues and discuss measures to address the same. Likewise, he enjoined everyone to make good the management of their PAs because all the resources therein are nature’s gift to them.

The PAMB members region wide are assured of the DENRs’ support in their effective and efficient PA management. He has high hopes that with the strong support and participation of all the stakeholders not only in the PAs but the whole of Bicol, the conservation and protection efforts of the Department are not in vain.

“I will be monitoring your activities in the PAMB. Help and support me in managing and protecting our environment,” said RED Aromin.

PAMB is the governing body of a protected area composed of different stakeholders who directly and indirectly benefit from the park and its resources.###
