  YOUTH ENCOURAGED TO CURB ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

        Barangay youth and student leaders from Masbate City and Mobo, Masbate participated in the Youth Environmental Forum conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) V on June 21, 2018 in Masbate City.

         Experts from the DENR V, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) V and Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) V discussed topics such as the current state of the Philippine environment, biodiversity, geological hazards and ecological responsibilities

       The participants had the opportunity to interact and discuss ideas with their peers on the pressing environmental issues and their commitments toward environmental protection and conservation.

           One of the students shared, “I will continue to reduce, reuse and recycle. We need to reduce our energy consumption. We need to learn how to live sustainably.”

         The DENR V recognizes the need to engage the youth on worthwhile activities and instill to the public that the conservation of the environment is a shared responsibility not just the government but the whole citizenry.###

3RD QUARTER PAMB MEETING FOR CATANDUANES NATURAL PARK HELD

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol through the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) chaired by DENR Bicol Regional Executive Director Atty. Gil A. Aromin conducted the 3rd Quarter PAMB Meeting for the Catanduanes Natural Park on August 20, 2019 at Corporate Inn Function Hall, San Roque, Virac, Catanduanes.

The meeting commenced with the presentation of the Protected Area (PA) Management Zone of Catanduanes Natural Park by the Conservation and Development Division (CDD) representative, Mr. Keith Harvey Dimaranan. Dimaranan encouraged the Sunwest Water & Electric Co. (SUWECO) to confer and cooperate with the Department in relation to their proposed hydropower plant construction at Barangay Paraiso, San Miguel, Catanduanes. Mr. Fredie Bueno, the Vice President for Civil Works of SUWECO also presented the typical schemes of the hydropower plant that will be constructed. SUWECO also asked guidance from the DENR for the processing of documents and standards, which they need to adhere to in the construction of the said project.

Meanwhile, RED Aromin thanked SUWECO for the partnership and assured the creation of a monitoring team for SUWECO's compliance of the Environment Compliance Certificate (ECC), among others.

Further, the administration and management of PA, which is under the responsibilities of the PAMB was presented by Protected Area Superintendent (PASu) Yolanda G. Saong.

The 3rd Quarter PAMB Meeting was also attended by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENR) Officer Marlon C. Francia, Technical Services Division Chief of PENRO Catanduanes, Ferdinand Baltazar, Management Services Division Chief, Ma. Juliet S. Araojo, OIC Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENRO) of LGU San Miguel Juan T. Torrenueva, other DENR V and PENRO staff, including other officials from the city and provincial LGUs.

DENR Bicol Hastens Government Procurement Process

DENR BICOL HAS A NEW GUARD. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol has a new guard in the person of Atty. Gil A. Aromin, CESO IV. By virtue of Special Order 2019-07 dated January 7, 2019, Atty. Aromin will lead DENR Bicol replacing Regional Executive Director Atty. Antonio A. Abawag, CESO IV who will also serve as RED of DENR Region 2.
